My name IS NOT James, and I DO NOT Live in America. in fact, there's no such thing! The Reality? Do You think you have a "Firm Grasp?" Reality... pfft! People with a firm grasp better get to letting go. Insanity... what is that? Society... Who says? and why? Ask Why... Why? You already know... Don't you? ... Didn't You? Who is that Voice inside your head? You know, right? NOPE. He/she may sound like you, but who are you actually?... Do You Know? Honestly? That voice may sound a lot like you, but is it actually me? Or him, or Them? I bet you feel you know! Maybe you do... You Don't. If You Think so, you must know you're you, you're NOT... you're me... I'm You... I AM. You don't believe?.. YOU wouldn't.

The moon and the stars were beautiful, the brook, the shore, the goat and the golden beetle, the flower and butterfly were beautiful. It was beautiful and pleasant to go through the world like that, so childlike, so awakened, so concerned with the immediate, without any distrust. All this had been and he had never seen it. Now he was present and belonged to it. Through his eyes he saw light and shadows.

I can easily see in this graph the band’s (Phish) rise in popularity. As they progressed into playing larger and larger venues it’s obvious the overwhelming crowd noise eventually forced the beloved “barbershop” a cappella portion of the shows to be phased out. I’d Love to see a graph like this based on the length of YEM vocal jams =D
phishnet:

This graph, from the second edition of The Phish Companion and based on its (2004) data, charts the rise and fall, in raw totals, of the number of songs that Phish performed a capella each year. Yes, the number of shows also rose and fell, but the data is no less telling. We look forward to providing an updated reference drawn from live data sometime in the future, and your discussion in the present. :)
